Brisbane in 28 Worldcon Bid Announces Change in Co-Chairs
We are excited to share our vision for hosting Worldcon in Brisbane in 2028
Our proposed dates are from Thursday 27 July to Monday 31 July, 2028 — timed to coincide with a full solar eclipse over Australia on 22 July, so that international attendees can have an extra-special Worldcon experience.
Our goal is to create an inclusive, welcoming, and unforgettable experience for fans from around the world.
The bid is built on strong community support and a passion for science fiction and fantasy.
We offer a vibrant location with excellent facilities, easy travel options, and plenty to explore.

A Message from the Chairs
So, let’s get straight to it: we really want to host Worldcon 2028 in Australia. And honestly, why wouldn’t we? It’s the greatest science fiction and fantasy event on the planet… and probably in the galaxy.
We have a proud history in the global spec‑fic community, and we’re just getting started. Our community is growing, full of energy, and ready to show the world what we can do.
We want to show you why you should select Brisbane for Worldcon 2028. A Worldcon that is uniquely Australian, showcases our local talent and gives you a chance to experience that iconically Australian dream.
